combo deal

fiery furnaces + stop motion animation...

yes

i think so

don't like the song as much as some other fiery furnaces

but the video is cute

and it was made for a project by WNYC new york public radio's Soundcheck program

Soundcheck - WNYC

beta.wnyc.org/shows/soundcheck/

and who are obviously beta testing their site...

hmmm

www.wnyc.org/soundcheck

wnyc.org/shows/soundcheck/

something like that

if it does, i'll try to remember to come back and fix it

if not - pah, worse things have happened at sea on the internet

and let's round off with he's-playing-at-urban-outiftters and he's blonde and beautiful, but damn damn DAMN this boy is talented

urban melancholic

galaxie 500, with dean who was in luna, who's album i still want and who have a song that was on a b-side of a rare 7" that i'd really sincerely love to hear again one day

can i say that i am a bit opposed to rarity when it defeats the object of listening access? i hate not having a copy of a song i've liked, hate it more if it's a song i've loved

and that is a pain i do not relish

but urban melancholic pain, well.. that's another matter

some loneliness leaves bruises

some inspires poetry

and while i'm mentioning it - this. THIS is amazing and i want my own copy of this too

skipping stones

how amazing is fourtet...?

www.fourtet.net/

kieren hebden i believe

the new album i've yet to hear in entirety... high on my list though (with the whole rest of will oldham, joanna newsom, more of the field, more by tindersticks, the new one for the national...)

but this 9'31" one off 2003's rounds - unspoken...

just epic beats plus keen melody

beats.

and how i would never give them up

how i love the people that treat them with intelligence, as well as feeling, which creates something transcendent, in the classic sense

like william orbit, like richard d. james... a.k.a. aphex twin

it becomes deeper than dance music, more rhythmic than purely mathematical composition.

math rock we used to call some kinds of music... for a time

math rock to me means ui, trans am (early albums)...

or is that just plain postrock?

to some people postrock is like any quiet loud quiet band, or were they loud quiet loud...? i forget ...

like it matters...

maybe it's a postmix :)

would love to know what technology you're using to make this music... samplers, digital instruments... vintage sythesisers... valve amplifiers.. ? - however you did it, four tet, kieren hebden, this music is excellent!

thank you

the xx

what an interesting band the xx are

intro - the xx

their songs on the album 'xx' on a random play, they start and i start guessing

sometimes i think hot chip?

sometimes everything but the girl (if i had that on cd, which i don't...)

depeche mode

guitar bits can be pure the cure

and the harmonies

the simple double-lisp boy/girl harmonies

"i was struggling to get in, left waiting out side your door..."

and awesome to be in love, long distance or unrequited... both maybe...

'basic space', how we all need it, no matter how in love

... top tracks

islands
heart skipped a beat
basic space
and intro - their only near-instrumental :)

and from that poorly filmed interview over coffee we know that david gedge likes 'em

and cue the wedding present on random!

gazebo

my song

my fuckin song

:)

because i am also a wedding present fan

more so now, so much more so lately... :)

but gazebo, i always loved that song

off an album it's surprisingly hard to buy now (watusi)

and not on youtube, which is tragic

"you wouldn't believe all the time that i've wasted
staring at the photographs
you sent to me, but i remember oh, exactly how you tasted
and just how much you really meant to me..."

oh mr gedge

is that for me?

xx

lazy blogger, tidy room?

:)

been a bit lazy blog-wise, but the room is a lot tidier

is there a connection?

found an homage youtube to that awesome drummer from the walkmen. i've always said the best thing about the walkmen is the drummer, and the best song is the rat

so imagine my delight in finding this:

The Walkmen 8/16/09 - Central Park Summerstage - This is a video of drummer Matt Barrick of the Walkmen absolutely killing it during the Rat. This is for you Jebber. love, benko

just tried (again) to listen to anything tortoise did after tnt, but jeepers... it all just sucks, sorry. i loved tortoise heaps, the first album, millions now living, even a few tracks on tnt, but ... downhill

so, no tortoise here

not today

liking the new albums. enjoying the mumfords, and the xx, and the field and holy fuck. really a very successful little shop that was :)

i gotta go

all that tidying wore me out

what a nice idea

some american bloke doing a nice little interview with david gedge of the wedding present, who keeps selling his guitars on ebay...

nice format for a little youtube interview

and i'd thumbs-it-up but i'm not a member of youtube...

sweet one from the field

not to everyone's taste, but a nice long bit of laid back electro can sometimes hit the spot with me.

... think this album is much more good than bad, and that this track is worthy of the orb, orbital, etc.

enjoy or don't

;)
