earl of sandwich

just thinking sometimes a band is tough to program, until you think of the two bands that could go on either side of them in a straight pop mix.

the national
have been such a band

but i believe

sandwiched between the tindersticks and interpol

they makes sense

album: boxer

tracks: fake empire
brainy
green gloves
slow show

good band

maybe with a bit of that glaswegian outfit... arab strap

that narcotic opening track of elephant shoe

cherubs

what a song

all good songs

so, tindersticks, something from that album with the lady dancer in the red dress

followed by a national - brainy, probably

...
brainy brainy brainy

followed by interpol - say hello to the angels

ta da! sandwich :)

head cold and new cds

it's been raining phlegm in the room of the unknown listener this past week, but it's clearing now so i thought i'd pop in a quick post about three new records that i bought with a gift voucher i got given for my birthday.

true to my wish list i got:

tarot sport by the fuck buttons (awesome...)
em are i by jeffrey lewis (which really only has two or three truly lovable tracks)

and FINALLY

cadillac 55 by andrew wk, a cd of "spontaneous solo piano improvisations" and somewhere between bach, american pastoral composition and awk's energy pop is the album of sheer bloody genius i always hoped it would be

and someone has gone and posted a track from the album on youtube

so after all that wishing and wondering, it's nice to see that that's what i spend my money on when i have some
