love and heartbreak

gedge, barlow, oldham...

david gedge

what a beautiful man... sorry but he is. when he smiles

leeds

heartbreak early when the drummer he loves leaves him for another band mate

but then, later, recorded by steve albini... championed by john peel (rip.)

and all those amazing songs

new favourite is 'no' off bizarro

and realising the brilliance of 'brassneck'

that actually might be the original version. not sure. it sounds bigger on the recording i have. and maybe slightly different.

i first heard the wedding present in the early 90s. got watusi not long after it came out i think... yep, 1994, island

adelaide, where i'm from, we knew what was happening in england. always. sarah. julian clary. the office, the goodies, ride, new order, (...chapterhouse, slowdive, seefeel) the bbc world service :)

more english than the english, i've heard said

it is a particular accent, not as strong as gedge's leeds or the rumble of a westcountry burr but it's individual...

:)
